Upton Says Yes!
To funding the budget
“Upton citizens passed the override – intended to fund the Mendon-Upton Regional School District budget – by a 1,015-to-761 vote. The matter was the only issue on the special election ballot. Though Mendon voters declined to support a $1.1 million override, Upton town officials had stressed the importance of Monday’s vote. The school committee will have to meet in the coming weeks to re-certify the district budget and, had the override failed, there was the possibility that town services would have to be cut in order to fund the new total.” – Mike Gleason – Milford Daily News Article
Our work is not done
We encourage all MURTA members and MURSD employees to attend a special school committee meeting this Thursday, May 21 at 7:00 pm at Miscoe Hill. The school committee is meeting to re-certify the budget and a strong showing for education is needed. We are encouraging all staff: teachers, nurses, counselors, custodians, paras, cafeteria staff, secretaries, etc. to be at the meeting.
To stay up to date on the budget process (which may continue through July) follow the Forward 15 campaign on Facebook. See you at the meeting!
